Induction Loop Systems For Personal Use

Although induction loop systems are ideal for large, noisy areas like theatres and stations as a way of picking out the sounds you want from the background noise, you may wonder why you might need to use a loop system in your home.

Homes can be noisy at times, especially if you have children, but in general background levels are low. However problems tend to occur when you try to watch TV or listen to the radio. If your hearing is impaired you will probably find you need to turn up the volume even if your impairment is quite mild. This is alright if you live in a detached house on your own but most of us don't.

If you live with others they might find the volume you need to have it at is too loud and uncomfortable for them. And what about your next door neighbours? They may not want to hear your TV through their walls.

Another problem is that if you've got the volume turned up very loud it makes it more difficult to hear what others may be saying to you or hear the phone ring or someone ringing the doorbell.

This is where an induction loop system is ideal. You can lay the cable round the edge of the room to produce a sound area within which your hearing aid or loop listener will work. The amplifier can be connected easily to the TV, stereo or radio that you want to listen too and you'll be able to turn up your hearing aid or loop hearer to a level that's right for you while the actual TV etc stays at a level that is comfortable for everyone in the room to listen to. And now your neighbours will no longer have to know what you are watching.

Another place you may like to install an induction loop system is in your car, especially if you do a lot of travelling about. Cars are noisy with all the internal rumblings and the sound of the traffic surrounding you. Loop systems designed to go in cars are powered via the cigarette lighter. The amplifier is plugged into the socket and loop runs to your seat. Such systems usually come with three microphones so that you can attach one to each of your car speakers so you can enjoy your radio in stereo and the third can be used by a passenger for normal conversation.

So, as you can see, having an induction loop system can make sense even in your own home or car.
